Dorothy Marie Overton Nelson, age 74, of 792 Mill Run Rd. Chatham, VA died Sunday, November 17, 2013. She was born on August 18, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Robert Herman Overton and the late Doris Pruitt Overton.
She was married to Dean Nelson and was a member of Oak Ridge Christian Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Goad and her husband Bobby, Tina Perdue; two sons, Danny Osborne and his friend Rhonda Bousman, Donald Osborne and his wife Kim; six grandchildren, Bobby Goad, Jr. and his wife Tina, Jenny Perdue and her friend Amanda Cagle, Brenda Goad, Michael Perdue, Jr., Ashley Woods, Kayla Osborne; two great-grandchildren, Lexi Fulcher and Jackson Woods; and a brother, Robert Lee Overton
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Stevie Vie Osborne; one brother, G.A. Overton; and one sister, Annie Mae Lawrence.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Ridge Christian Church on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at 11:00 am with the Minister Ted Clifton, Minister Kenneth McFarling officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Oak Ridge Christian Church on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 from 7-8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence.
