Obituary for Katharine Adams Fitzgerald

FARMVILLE,

Katharine Adams Fitzgerald, age 96, formerly of Salem, entered into rest on July 24, 2016 at The Woodland in Farmville.

She was born on April 16, 1920, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Robert T. Adams and the late Edna Robertson Adams. She was married to the late Hugh Seldon Fitzgerald.

She attended Salem Baptist Church where she served as the secretary of the Mildred Ball Sunday School Class for many years.

She is survived by her daughter, Katherine Bush and her husband Joseph of Hampden Sydney; a granddaughter, Katrina B. Cantrell and her husband Fitzhugh; four great-grandchildren, Charlie Cantrell, Sam Cantrell, Lauren Bush, and Caroline Bush; three sisters, Lois A. Gravely, Elizabeth A. Elliott, and Barbara E. Adams; and a brother, Robert T. Adams, Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Fitzgerald, a grandson, Joseph F. Bush; and a sister, Sarah A. Pollard.

Graveside services will be conducted at Payneton United Methodist Church Cemetery on Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 11:00 am.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Payneton United Methodist Church.
