Obituary for Dianne Amos Doherty



LELAND, NC
Mrs. Dianne Amos Doherty, 61, of 1168 Leesburg Drive, Leland, North Carolina passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20, 2017.
She was born on September 23, 1955 in Danville, Virginia, the daughter of the late Howard Amos and Florence Amos of Callands, Virginia who survives.
Dianne was a 1973 graduate of Chatham High School. She received her Registered Nurse Diploma in 1976 from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She then received her Nurse Practitioner License from the University of Virginia in 1980. Dianne devoted her entire life to caring for others as a Nurse Practitioner for 34 years at the Offices of Dr. Thompson and Dr. Shah in Chatham, Virginia. Most recently she has served as the Certified Adult Nurse Practitioner for the Brunswick County Employee Clinic in Brunswick County, North Carolina for the past 7 years. Dianne loved all of her patients both near and far and took great pride in caring for them. Dianne most enjoyed spending time with her family. She has created many wonderful memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren that will never be forgotten! She was an avid collector of elephants. Dianne was of the Baptist Faith and spent many years serving as an Organist and Youth Choir Director.
She is survived by her husband of 30 years Andrew Doherty of the residence; son Jason Doherty of Leland, North Carolina; son Scott Doherty of Danville, Virginia; daughter Kristen Doherty Aron(Mark) of Danville, Virginia; and two grandchildren Dylan and Madyson Aron. A brother Howard P. Amos Jr.(Joann) along with two special nieces and their children.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 24 from 7-8:30pm at Scott Funeral Home Chatham, Virginia. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, May 25, 2:00pm at Liberty Baptist Church 18529 Franklin Turnpike Callands, Virginia with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Burial Park, 3049 N Main St, Piney Forest Rd, Danville, Virginia.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 18529 Franklin Turnpike Callands, VA 24530.
