Obituary for Donald Eugene Longerbeam

CHATHAM,

Donald Eugene Longerbeam, age 75, of Chatham, VA, entered into rest on August 1, 2017 at his residence.

He was born on June 29, 1942, in Arlington, the son of the late Joyce Longerbeam and the late Effie Symons Longerbeam. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Owens Longerbeam.

Donald was a loving Husband, Father& Grandfather who will be greatly missed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his Boys, Daughter-in-Laws & Grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Porter (Teresa) Longerbeam of Chatham and Carter (Jewel) Longerbeam of Midland; a daughter, Tracy (Chino) Kearney of Fairfax; five grandchildren, Amber Longerbeam, Zachary Longerbeam, Jacob Longerbeam, John Longerbeam, and Joseph Longerbeam; three sisters, Tina Longerbeam, Shirley Jones, and Pauline Sydnor; and one brother, Ronald Longerbeam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Wallace Longerbeam and three sisters, Golden Longerbeam, Phyllis Dunn and Ruth Hopkins.

A memorial service will be conducted at Cornerstone Church of Christ on Friday August 4, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Bob Paddock officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Foundation.
