Obituary for Brenda Murphy Williams



CHATHAM,

Brenda Murphy Williams, age 72, of 880 Climax Rd. Chatham, VA, entered into rest on November 10, 2017 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.

She was born on July 1, 1945, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Archie Roscoe Murphy, Sr. and the late Erma Yeatts Murphy. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Joseph Williams.

She was an active member of Greenpond Baptist Church where she was a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and involved with the W.M.U. She graduated from Chatham High School as the valedictorian and from Averett College. She worked as the secretary for the Pittsylvania County Farm Bureau for many years. She had a deep love for her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Renee Williams and her husband Billy Reaves and Mary Williams Smith and her husband Chris; one son, Jesse Williams and his wife Penny; one sister, Betty Lissenden; one brother, Archie Murphy Jr. and his wife Sherri; six grandchildren, Jacob and Laura Reaves, William and Austin Smith, and Joey Williams and Ben Williams; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at Greenpond Baptist Church on Tuesday November 14, 2017 at 11:00 am by Rev. Steven J. Carlton and Rev. R.G. Rowland.

Burial will follow at Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Monday November 13, 2017 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 880 Climax Rd. Chatham, VA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Greenpond Baptist Church building fund, 7176 Anderson Mill Rd.
