Obituary for Anna Dykes Evans Dodson

CHATHAM,

Anna Dykes Evans Dodson, age 75, of Chatham,, entered into rest on December 28, 2017 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on July 3, 1942, in Somerset, KY, the daughter of the late James Tulley Dykes and the late Mary Helen Ledford Dykes.

Anna was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a member of Ascension Lutheran. She was an English teacher and a librarian for many years. She enjoyed reading and researching genealogy of her family and others.

She is survived by one daughter, Emily Evans Wright and her husband Vaden of Chatham; one son, Jay Turner Evans and his wife Rebecca of Richmond; seven grandchildren, Maddie R. Knaus, Molly J. Hughes, Patrick B. Evans, Meredith L. Hughes, Jacob C. Evans, Tanner M. Evans, and Georgia C. Evans; one great-grandchild, Mason L. Knaus; and two brothers, Charles R. Dykes and Joseph T. Dykes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Evans and her second husband, Roger Dodson; as well as one brother, James M. Dykes.

Funeral services will be conducted at Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville on Sunday December 31, 2017 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Meredith Williams officiating.

Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends at one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence of her daughter, 235 Whittle St. Chatham, VA 24531.
