Herman Thomas Murphy
DRY FORK,
Herman Thomas Murphy, age 88, formerly of 5633 Dry Fork Road, entered into rest on December 31, 2017 at Piney Forest Health & Rehab in Danville.
He was born on May 3, 1929, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Percy Hugh Murphy and the late Beulah Crane Murphy. He was married to the late Beulah Yeatts Murphy.
Herman was a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Herman is survived by one sister, Judith M. Riggins; six nephews, Brian Murphy, Stanley Murphy, James E. Giles, David Yeatts, Jimmy Yeatts, and Robert Yeatts; nine nieces, Cheryl Donison, Edith Saunders, Stacey L. Riggins, Margie Hillburn, Syble Nuckols, Jane Mitchell, Jerilynn Phillips, Melissa Gatewood, and Janice Chilcoat; one sister-in-law, Virginia Murphy; one brother-in-law, James I. Giles; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph E. Murphy; and one sister, Rachel M. Giles.
Funeral services will be conducted at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church on Thursday January 4, 2018 at 2:00 pm.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday January 3, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Gideons International or to the Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church building fund, 3612 Dry Fork Rd, Dry Fork, VA 24549.
