Obituary for James Lester Shelton Jr.

CHATHAM,

James Lester Shelton, Jr., age 76, of 603 Washington Ct. Chatham, entered into rest on January 17, 2018 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on April 18, 1941, in Danville, the son of the late James L. Shelton Sr. and the late Ethel Keen Shelton. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Hall Shelton.

He served in the U.S. Navy. He worked for Disston Inc. for over 20 years and later for ANCHOR in Martinsvile, VA. He was the first starting goaltender in 1970 at Parkview Skating Rink.

He is survived by one daughter, Tammy Chaney of Chatham; and four grandchildren, Nicholas Chaney, Sallie Chaney, Emilie Chaney, and Ashley Matney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Mark Shelton; and two sisters, Betty Whitlow and Rita Moore.

Graveside services will be conducted at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens on Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00 am.
