Obituary for Floyd Allen Holley

CALLANDS,

Floyd Allen Holley, age 91, of 2837 Mapleton Dr. Callands, VA, entered into rest on February 7, 2018 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on June 23, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Beverly H. Holley and the late Martha Reynolds Holley. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Oakes Holley.

Mr. Holley was a member of Salem Church of Christ. He served two years in the Combat Infantry as a First Scout with the rank of Corporal. He earned a Combat Infantry Badge, a Pacific Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, a Liberation Service Medal with one Bronze Star, a good Conduct Medal, a World War II Victory Medal, an Occupation of Japan Ribbon, and Southern Phillipines Liberation Ribbon.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Peggy Edwards and her husband James; two grandchildren, James H. "Jimmy" Edwards Jr and his wife Teri, Jason Allen Holley and his fiancé Ashley Simpson; one daughter-in-law, Bonnie W. Holley; and a step-grandchild, Misty Wilkes.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Michael Holley; and was the last survivor of his generation being predeceased by six brothers and six sisters.

Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday February 10, 2018 at 11:00 am with Minister Larry L. Owen officiating.

Burial will follow at the Holley Family Cemetery adjacent to Liberty Baptist Church in Callands.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence, 2837 Mapleton Dr. Callands, VA.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to all Floyd’s caregivers at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.
