CHATHAM,

Samuel Jerome “S.J.” Gauldin, age 79, of 512 Calvary Rd. Chatham, entered into rest on March 23, 2018 at SOVAH Health in Danville.

He was born on February 15, 1939, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Oakley Gauldin and the late Buelah Hammock Gauldin. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Beatrice Patterson Gauldin.

He retired from Dan River Mills and loved fishing and his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four daughters, Nancy Rigney of Chatham, Jo Ann (Dennis) Walker of Chatham, Sheila Easome of Chatham, and Sherri (Joe) Hodnett of Callands; two sons, Steve (Betty) Gauldin of Chatham and Gary (Tonya) Gauldin of Chatham; sixteen grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three sisters, Kathleen Saunders, Ruth Garrett, and Mae Tate.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandchild, Jerome Rigney; and three half-brothers, Jimmy Greer, Jack Greer, and Robert Greer.

Funeral services will be conducted at The Christian Tabernacle Church, 1602 Wynell Dr. Callands, on Tuesday March 27, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Tim Hayes officiating.

Burial will follow at the Gauldin Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Monday March 26, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 512 Calvary Rd. Chatham, VA.
