Obituary for Macie Carter Craddock



CHATHAM,

Macie Carter Craddock, age 88, of 201 Hillcrest Ln. Chatham, VA, entered into rest on July 17, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born on May 28, 1930, in the Happy Home Community of Rockingham County, NC, the daughter of the late John Carter and the late Kate Hall Carter.

She was married to the late Charlie L. Craddock.

She was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church where she was a pianist for over 60 years.

She is survived by one son, Jimmy Craddock of Chatham; one daughter, Joan (Keith) Stogner of Chatham; two grandchildren, Beth (Scott) Shackelford of Danville and Chris Craddock of Chatham; a step-grandchild, Timmie (Michael) Hayes of Lexington, SC; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Garnet) Craddock of Clemson, SC; a brother-in-law, Langhorne (Nancy) Craddock; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Opal Glidewell, Edna Crowder, and, Doddie Troutt; brothers, Jamie Carter, Otis Carter, Julian Carter, and Paul Carter, and a daughter-in-Law, Ann Craddock.

Funeral services will be conducted at Oakland United Methodist Church on Friday July 20, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at Oakland United Methodist Church on Thursday July 19, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 201 Hillcrest Ln. Chatham, VA.
