Obituary for Patricia Greene Crawley

MIAMI, FL
Patricia Abribat Greene Crawley, formerly of Danville, passed away July 4, 2018 in Miami, Florida. She was born in Washington, DC on October 4, 1926, to the late Mark Joseph and Clarice Tinsman Abribat. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Julian Giles Greene; her second husband Matthew John Crawley, Jr.; a son, David Randolph Greene; and her brother, Marc G. Abribat. She was employed for many years as a caseworker and supervisor at the City of Danville’s Department of Social Services. Following retirement, she served as a volunteer in nursing homes and for hospice, and upon moving to Lynchburg in 2003, continued to do volunteer work in local hospitals and nursing homes. In 2011 she relocated to Miami.
She will be remembered always for her unwavering and unconditional love for family and friends, her strength of character in the face of all adversity, her endless curiosity and quest for knowledge and education, her enjoyment of music, her delight in playing games (especially Bridge and Scrabble) and mastery of word puzzles. She is survived by her daughter Julia Greene Cooperman of Miami, son Richard Allen Greene (Catherine) of Lynchburg, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two graveside services will be held for interment of her ashes: at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Chatham, VA, on Thursday, August 9th at 11:00 a.m., and at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Upperville, VA on Saturday, August 11th at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family hopes you will make a donation in her memory to your favorite charity.
