CALLANDS,

James Irving Smith, age 80, of Callands, VA, entered into rest on July 24, 2018 at Chatham Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on May 20, 1938, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late John Pearson Smith and the late Dorothy Swanson Smith.

He is survived by three sons, James M. Smith of Crimora, Jonathan David Smith of Axton, and Joseph Shannon Smith of Chatham; a daughter, Jennifer Dawn Smith of Charlotte, NC; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Lane Smith; and one grandchild, Brittany Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday July 28, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Smith Family Cemetery in Callands.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
