Obituary for Nancy Haskins Smith



CHATHAM,

Nancy Haskins Smith, age 84, of Climax, entered into rest on October 26, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital.

She was born on October 21, 1934, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Doc Rawley Haskins and the late Betsy Yeatts Haskins. She was married to the late Robert L. Smith.

She was a member of Greenpond Baptist Church.

She is survived by one son, Ronald (Gwen) Smith of Gretna; a grandson, Justin (Kristen) Smith; one brother, Lawrence (Mae) Haskins; one sister, Juanita (James) Roberts; and two great-grandchildren, Brenden Smith and Easton Smith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Smith and Roger Smith; three grandchildren, Jason Paul Smith, Lori Lynn Smith, and Leslie Kay Smith, a sister, Christine Yates, and brothers, Douglas Haskins and Rawley Haskins.

Funeral services will be conducted at Greenpond Baptist Church on Sunday October 28, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Steven J. Carlton and Rev. David Edinger officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenpond Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Saturday October 27, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence of Ronald and Gwen Smith, 1193 Player Rd. Gretna, VA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Greenpond Baptist Church building fund, 7120 Anderson Mill Rd. Chatham, VA 24531.
