Obituary for Adelyne Cocke Shelton

CHATHAM,
Adylene Cocke Shelton, age 89, of 1349 Halifax Road Chatham, VA, entered into rest on Wednesday December 12, 2018 at Roman Eagle Nursing Home.
She was born on April 22, 1929, in Chatham, the daughter of the late Giles Owen Cocke and the late Toy Lee Owen Cocke.
She was married to the late Stuart Iverson Shelton.
She was a longtime member of Chatham Baptist Church and later attended Oak Grove Christian Church. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Teacher’s aid/volunteer at Gretna elementary.
She is survived by one son, Henry G. (Tonya) Crider of Mt. Herman; a grandson, Forrest Crider of Penhook; a granddaughter, Hannah (Matt) Stowe of Holly Springs, NC; four great-grandchildren, Brayden Crider, Colton Crider, Cameron Crider, Crider Stowe; and one brother, Elmer J. Cocke,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Cocke; and a sister, Gladys Blair.
Graveside rites will be conducted at Hillcrest Burial Park on Monday December 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mickey Witcher officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the charity of your choice.
