Obituary for Claude Davis Reynolds

CHATHAM,

Claude Davis Reynolds, age 84, of Chatham, entered into heaven to the arms of Jesus on July 15, 2019 at Roman Eagle Rehab Center in Danville.

He was born on January 14, 1935, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Ernest S. Reynolds and the late Arie Reynolds Reynolds.

He was married to his love, the late Barbara Rigney Reynolds.

He was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church. After serving a four-year apprenticeship, he worked for thirty-eight years as cost engineer estimator for the Newport News Ship Building. He won the Neils Christian Craftsmanship Award for his division. He had a very close relationship with the Averett University Theatre Department in memory of his talented son David Samuel Reynolds which he greatly enjoyed. Claude loved working outdoors and with his hands. Claude was very loved by his family and was the best “Papa” to his granddaughters who love him dearly.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Claudette Reynolds Keeter; two granddaughters, Melody Ann Keeter (Joshua) Barrett and Ashley Noelle Keeter; five great-grandchildren, Ella, Olivia, Violet, Seth, and Elijah; a sister, Carolyn Sue Reynolds Garner; and a very special friend, Susie Kendrick.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Samuel Reynolds; and a brother, Samuel E. Reynolds.

Funeral services will be conducted at Hollywood Baptist Church on Saturday July 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Terry C. St. John officiating.

Burial will follow at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Hollywood Baptist Church on Friday July 19, 2019 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm.
