Obituary for Polly Moore Light

Pollyanna (Moore) Light was born December 7, 1924 in Chatham, Virginia and entered Eternal Life on August 3, 2019 in Virginia Beach, Virginia, age 94. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 63 years, F. Nelson Light, her parents Charles A. Moore and Lillian (Moon) Moore, and her 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She graduated from Chatham High School in 1942 and attended Longwood University and completed the Education for Ministry program from the University of the South. Polly worked for the Pittsylvania County Library both on the bookmobile and as librarian. She and her husband moved to Virginia Beach in 1991 and lived at Westminster-Canterbury on the Bay until their respective deaths. The family attended Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chatham until moving to Virginia Beach where she and Nelson attended All Saints Episcopal Church. Polly is survived by her sons Arthur H. Light (Margaret) of Oakton, Virginia and Charles A. Light (Linda) of Cincinnati, Ohio, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

The family requests memorial gifts instead of flowers to be sent to All Saints Episcopal Church, 1968 Woodside Lane, Virginia Beach, VA 23454, or Emmanuel Episcopal Church, PO Box 26, Chatham, VA 24531, or Westminster Canterbury, 3100 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23451.

A memorial service is planned for 11 AM on Saturday, October 12th at Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
