Obituary for Samuel Irvine Owen

CHATHAM,

Samuel Irvine Owen, age 77, of Chatham, VA, entered into rest on September 22, 2019 at SOVAH Health Danville.

He was born on February 20, 1942, in Chatham, the son of the late Samuel David Owen and the late Elizabeth Herndon Owen.

He was a graduate of Hargrave Military Academy, Presbyterian Junior College in Maxton, NC, and Danville Community College. He was an employee at Worsham Appliances and T.V. for many years and a member of Chatham Volunteer Fire Department and Chatham Presbyterian Church.

He is survived by a sister, Mildred Jane Worsham and her husband Landon of Chatham; a sister-in-law, Ann D. Owen of Hopewell; a nephew, Jerry L. Owen (Vicki) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; nieces, Linda Owen of Hopewell, Patricia A. Owen of Hopewell, and Jane W. Gleim of Atlanta, GA; great-nieces, Wellesley G. Lewis (Thomas) of Atlanta and Elizabeth G. Goumilloot (Eric) of Salem; and special friends, Terry and Julie Kelly, Bobby Campbell, Elaine Ruggieri, Charles and Sylvia Hawkins, Peggy and Sterling Crews, and Rodney and Deb Brooks.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Coyner Owen; and a nephew, James Reid Worsham.

Memorial services will be conducted at Chatham Presbyterian Church on Saturday September 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Mikel D. Pugh officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 192 Chatham, VA or to Chatham Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 668 Chatham, VA 24531.
