			<description><![CDATA[<p><img src='http://scottfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/122385/include/storage/thumb.php?edgeFade=4&amp;imgName=default-images/v3-lily.jpg&amp;imgWidth=72&amp;imgWidth=120' align='left' hspace='8'>William Harry Bernard, age 76, of 277 Museville Road Chatham, VA died Sunday, May 19, 2013 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke. He was born on August 27, 1936, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late William Ruebenearly Bernard and the late Mary Ethel McBride Bernard.
He is survived by his wife Louise Gibson Bernard of the residence.  
He is also survived by two daughters, Lisa B. Reynolds of Bassett and Sandy B. Collins and her husband D.W. of Callands; eight grandchildren, Natosha Greathouse and her husband William, Cody and Kristin Rigney; Ryan, Kevin and Clinton Reynolds; Keith and Krystal Collins and four great grandchildren, Dillon and Lane Greathouse, Charity and Bentley Reynolds, and his special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brother and two sisters, Russell and Lewis Bernard Leitha McCackin and Arelda Adkins.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Ridge Christian Church on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM with the Ministers Kenneth McFarling and Robert Garland officiating. The family will receive friends at Oak Ridge Christian Church on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM and at other times will be at the residence. Scott Funeral Home in Chatham is respectfully serving the Bernard family.</p>]]></description>

Janie Brown Ragsdale, 90, of Java died early Saturday morning at Lynchburg General Hospital. 
Mrs. Ragsdale, born Feb. 17, 1923 in Halifax County, was the daughter of Archie and Maude Brown. Along with her parents, Mrs. Ragsdale was predeceased by her brothers, Richard Brown, Harry Brown, Carlton Brown, and Stacy Brown, and her sister Virginia B. Terry. She was also predeceased by her husband Phillip Ragsdale.  
She is survived by her sisters Violet B. Clark of Lynchburg and Garnett B. Rowland of Gretna and brothers Glenn Brown of Java and Billy Brown of Graham, N.C. She leaves three sons and their wives: James T. “Tommy” and Emily Ragsdale of Chatham, John and Carolyn Ragsdale of Java and Allen and Wanda Ragsdale of Java. She had six grandchildren: Donna R. Dunn (and Randall Dunn) of Forest, Shannon R. Johnson (and Travis Johnson) of Danville, James T. Ragsdale Jr. of Dry Fork, Christina R. Hollie (and Jonathan Hollie) of Danville, Joshua Ragsdale of Java, and Bradley Ragsdale of Java; and six great-grandchildren: Nicholas and Matthew Johnson of Danville, Graham and Bella Dunn of Forest and Kenley and Katelyn Hollie of Danville. 

Mrs. Ragsdale retired from Dan River Mills after 28 years of service. A lifelong resident of the Java community, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Riceville. 

Her life centered on her children and grandchildren, and she took great delight in babies and young children. The picture of a grandmother, Mrs. Ragsdale made a delicious Mountain Dew cake and always had M&Ms in the candy jar for her grandchildren. Gifted in sewing and handiwork such as crocheting and quilting, she also had a green thumb that was easy to see from the moment a visitor set foot on her front porch filled with red geraniums each summer.

The family will be at the residence of John and Carolyn Ragsdale, 1669 Riceville Road, Java 24565.

Family visitation will be at Scott Funeral Home on Sunday night (May 19) from 7-8 p.m.  Rev. Shelton Miles will officiate the funeral service, Monday (May 20), 2 p.m. at Scott Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Chatham.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be sent to 640 Community Rescue Squad, 1604 Riceville Rd,  Java, VA 24565.</p>]]></description>

			<title>Anna Belle  Moore</title>

			<description><![CDATA[<p><img src='http://scottfuneralhome.frontrunnerpro.com/runtime/122385/include/storage/thumb.php?edgeFade=4&amp;imgName=default-images/v3-lily.jpg&amp;imgWidth=72&amp;imgWidth=120' align='left' hspace='8'>Anna Belle Rogers Moore, 92, of 421 Strawberry Road, Chatham, went home to be with her Lord on April 29, 2013, at Danville Regional Medical Center.
	
Mrs. Moore was born on November 16, 1920, to the late Mumford and Dora Rogers of Spring Garden.  She was married to Addison Comer Moore, who predeceased her.  She was a graduate of Spring Garden High School and was a homemaker for most of her life.  An active member of Hollywood Baptist Church, she was part of the choir and the WMU for many years.  She was also a member of the Farm Bureau Women’s Committee.
	
Mrs. Moore loved her garden and provided flowers for her church for over 50 years as well as for weddings and other events for family and friends.  

Mrs. Moore is survived by her children David Moore and his wife Cathy, Patsy Poteat and her husband Trent, and Donnie Moore and his wife Peggy.  She is also survived by grandchildren Jackie Eanes and husband Glen, Steven Moore, Melissa Bacon and husband Joey, James Addison Moore and wife Sara, Travis Poteat, Dustin Moore,  Adam Poteat, Daniel Moore and wife Sabrina, Alison Search and husband Nathan, Sarah Moore and Rebecca Moore.  Her surviving great-grandchildren are Andrew and Joshua Eanes and Amelia and Ava Bacon.  She is also survived by her brother Aylor Rogers and her sister Glenn Yates.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Moore was predeceased by her son Steven Moore as well as siblings Fitzhugh Rogers, Susie Barbee, Orlin Rogers, Bryan Rogers, Nellie Owen, and Lynn Rogers.
Funeral services will be conducted at Hollywood Baptist Church on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 11:00 AM with the Pastor Terry C. St. John officiating. Burial will be at Hollywood Baptist Church Cemetery, in Chatham, VA.  The family will receive friends at Hollywood Baptist Church on Thursday, May 2, 2013 from 6:30 PM till 8:00 PM and at other times will be at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Hollywood Baptist church, 6405 Callands Rd., Chatham, or to the Callands Fire and Rescue Squad.
The family would like to thank their faithful caregivers Nannette White, Nancy Daniel, Eleanor Reynolds, and Alice Owen.
