Obituary for Helen Allen Atkinson



CHATHAM,

Helen Allen Atkinson, age 92, of 14328 US Highway 29 Chatham, VA, entered into rest on December 10, 2017 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home in Danville.

She was born on December 3, 1925, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late George Coleman Allen and the late May Reynolds Allen. She was married to the late Roy Lee Atkinson.

She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Phyllis A. (Frank) Robinson; two sons, Charles Atkinson of Chatham and Larry (Regena) Atkinson of Ringgold; twelve grandchildren, Billy, Kim, Tina, Michael, Christy, Brandy, Frank, Nicole, Melissa, Amy, April, Millie, Josh, and Jake; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Anne Yeatts; and one brother, Richard Allen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Johnny Atkinson; brothers, Howard Allen, Herman Allen, Jim Allen, and Melvin Allen; and one sister, Libby Arthur.

Funeral services will be conducted at Scott Funeral Home on Wednesday December 13, 2017 at 11:00 am with Rev. Darrell T. Campbell officiating.

Burial will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and at other times will be at the residence, 14328 US Highway 29 Chatham, VA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Mt. Herman Volunteer Fire Department, 4268 Franklin Turnpike Danville, VA 24540.
