Obituary for Iris Henderson Tate



CHATHAM,

Iris Henderson Tate, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandma Georgia and Gigi, was welcomed into the gates of Heaven by her siblings, parents, and her beloved grandson Trey. She was the epitome of a true Southern lady. She loved entertaining her family on any occasion. Her table was always open.

She was born on June 4, 1927, in Caswell County, NC, the daughter of the late Pendleton Henderson and the late Lucy Henderson. She is survived by her husband, Clyde William Tate, Sr.

She was a member of Watson Memorial United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Morgan-Johnson Chapter #44 OES. Iris was active in Eastern Star until her health began to fail.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Tate (Que) Motley, Diane Tate (David) Hudson, and Patricia Tate (Kenneth) Hudson; one son, Clyde William Tate, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Que (Mary) Motley, III, Chrissy (Tate) Myers, Karla (William) Martin, David Hudson, Jr., Nick Hudson, Robert Hudson, Leslie Hudson, and Bailey Tate; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Clyde W. Tate (Trey), III; and four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be conducted at Watson Memorial United Methodist Church on Tuesday February 13, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Jon Woodburn officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park.

The family will receive friends at Scott Funeral Home on Monday February 12, 2018 from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 310 Peach ST Chatham, VA.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Watson Memorial United Methodist Church, the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department, or to the charity of your choice.
