Obituary for Paul Melton Pruitt

CHATHAM,

Paul Melton Pruitt, age 80, of 104 Hedrick Dr. Chatham, VA, continued his walk with the Lord and regained his sight on August 7, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on August 24, 1937, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Seewood Pruitt and the late Gay Creasy Pruitt.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Sue Williams Pruitt.

He was a member of Mill Creek Community Church where he served many years as a Sunday school teacher and Deacon. He was currently a trustee and the Treasurer. He was a 50 year Mason and a member and Past Master of Pittsylvania Lodge No. 24 AF&AM, a member of Polk Lodge No. 61 AF&AM, a past District Deputy Grand Master of the 38th Masonic District, a member and Past Patron of Morgan Johnson Chapter No. 44 Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Gretna Chapter No. 118 Order of the Eastern Star, a former treasurer of both OES chapters, and the 1993-94 Grand Representative to Texas. He retired from Durham Hosiery Mills.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Pruitt (Barry) Creasy; one son, John Melton Pruitt; five grandchildren, Ashley Betterton Moon, Mark Anthony Betterton, Susan Creasy (Tommy) Evans, Jessica Marie Pruitt, and Rebecca Grace Pruitt; and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elton Pruitt.

Funeral services with Eastern Star Rites will be conducted at Mill Creek Community Church on Friday August 10, 2018 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Darrell T. Campbell officiating.

Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Mill Creek Community Church on Thursday August 9, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm and at other times will be at the residence, 104 Hedrick Dr. Chatham, VA.
