Obituary for Virginia Mabel Ferguson Payne
CHATHAM,
Virginia Mabel Ferguson Payne, age 92, of 765 Paynes Rd. Penhook, VA, entered into rest on April 30, 2019 at Gretna Health Care Center.
She was born on July 13, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Johnnie H. Ferguson and the late Mary English Ferguson.
She was married to the late Irvin A. Payne.
She is survived by two sons, Irvin A. "Buddy" (Dinia) Payne Jr. and Brian H. Payne; two daughters, Lorene D. Payne and Pattie J. Payne; two grandchildren, Barry W. Payne and Michael (Tonya) Payne; three great-grandchildren, Andrew Payne, Abby Payne, and Katelyn Payne; a sister, Christine (Jerry) Goodbar; two brothers, Gene (Betty) Ferguson and Nelson (Jacqueline) Ferguson.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, Albert Ferguson, Oscar Ferguson, Edward Ferguson, Julian Ferguson, and Bill Ferguson, and a granddaughter-in-law, Barry's wife, Anne Payne.
Graveside services will be conducted at Oak Grove Christian Church Cemetery on Friday May 3, 2019 at 2:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cool Branch Rescue Squad, 3016 Smith Mt. Rd. Penhook, VA 24137.
