Callands,
Iris Reynolds Farthing age 85 of 17695 Franklin Tpke Callands, VA died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Danville Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 26, 1926, in Pittsylvania County, the daughter of the late Henry Oscar Reynolds and the late Ercie Adkins Reynolds.
She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church, a member of the Callands Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Mrs. Farthing was a graduate of the former Callands High School, class of 1944. She retired from Union Hall Elementary School as a teacher’s aid.
She was married to the late George Thomas Farthing, Jr.
Mrs. Farthing is survived by her son, George Thomas Farthing, III of Callands; one brother, Henry Lynwood Reynolds of Callands, also a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, William Allen Reynolds, Harold Clinton Reynolds, and Lee Bernice Reynolds.
Funeral services will be conducted at Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at 3:00 PM with the Rev. Daryl Joyce officiating. Burial will be at Highland Burial Park, in Danville, VA. The family will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday, September 4, 2011 from 1:30 PM till 2:30 PM and at other times will be at the residence.
